How to increase admission in a school
What actually drives school admissions in India, why enquiries fall between January and March, and what a principal can change without a large budget.

School admissions are decided by a small circle of parents talking to each other, and by what a searching parent finds in the first minute. Schools that grow steadily do three things: they are findable and accurate online, they answer every enquiry the same day, and they give parents something concrete to compare. None of it requires a large budget.
Know your admission season, and work backwards
Most Indian schools take the bulk of their enquiries in a short window before the session. Whatever you want to be visible for in January has to exist online by October, because a new page takes weeks to be found. Planning in the season itself is the single most common reason a year is lost.
Fix the first minute
Search your own school name on a phone. Whatever appears in that first screen is your admissions front desk: the Google listing, reviews, the website. If the timings are wrong, the photographs are old, or the fee page does not exist, that is where enquiries are being lost, before any conversation.
Give parents something to compare
Board and affiliation, class-wise fee structure, transport routes, the actual teacher-student ratio, and results with years attached. Parents compare two or three schools on exactly these. A school that publishes them plainly wins against one that asks the parent to visit to find out.
Treat every enquiry as time-critical
Record where each enquiry came from and how long it took to be answered. Most schools discover the delay is measured in days. Cutting it to hours usually lifts admissions more than any campaign, and costs nothing.
Word of mouth is a system, not luck
Existing parents are the strongest channel you have. Ask them for reviews and referrals at moments when they are happy, such as after results or a well-run event, rather than only when seats are empty.

| What they look for | Where they look | Common gap | Effort to fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Board and affiliation | Website, listing | Stated vaguely or not at all | Low |
| Class-wise fees | Website | Hidden behind enquire for details | Low |
| Results with years | Website | Only percentages, no year | Low |
| Transport routes | Website | Missing entirely | Low |
| Recent photographs and timings | Google listing | Years out of date | Low |
