The United Arab Emirates market
The UAE private school market is unusually competitive and almost entirely fee paying, with a majority expatriate parent population. Dubai schools are regulated and inspected by KHDA, Abu Dhabi schools by ADEK, and inspection outcomes are published on a common rating scale that parents genuinely read and discuss. Curricula run in parallel within the same city: British schools to GCSE and A Level, American schools to the high school diploma and Advanced Placement, IB schools offering PYP, MYP and the Diploma, Indian schools following CBSE, and Ministry of Education curriculum schools. Fees are regulated and published. Families relocate constantly, so a school is often being compared by someone who has never set foot in the country.

In a market where inspection ratings, fee tables and school directories are all public, differentiation happens in what a parent finds beyond them. When a relocating family searches from London, Mumbai or Manila, or asks an AI assistant which Dubai schools offer a particular curriculum at a particular fee level, the answer is assembled from whatever is published and legible online. Aggregator sites and directories usually dominate those results, not the schools themselves. A school with a strong inspection outcome can still be missing from the comparison a parent actually reads, while a competitor with clearer published information is named.
